Daphne Studio has had the honor of collaborating with Lock & Mortice for years, building a strong partnership rooted in creativity and innovation. For the Interior Design Show Vancouver, we were approached by Lock & Mortice to conceptualize and design an installation that would resonate with the audience on a deeply emotional level. Our narrative development process delved into the psyche of the viewer, aiming to craft a multisensory experience that would evoke a sense of calm and tranquility as they navigated the space. The concept evolved into a vision of a luxurious lake house, where nature's sprawling beauty seamlessly blended with the precision craftsmanship of Lock & Mortice's furniture.
A critical element of our design was the innovative use of light. To achieve a minimalist yet impactful space, we opted for natural sunlight over traditional lighting, creating the illusion of an open skylight that guided the viewer’s eye towards the centerpiece, the Deka Console. We further enhanced the space by bringing the outdoors in, integrating nature into the design in a way that it lived harmoniously with the decor rather than competing with it. La Bomba Floristry played a key role in this aspect, providing lush, local florals in rich reds, pinks, and oranges, which acted as captivating accents to the furniture. This thoughtful integration of natural elements with human-made craftsmanship created a bold, serene environment that offered a peaceful escape for all who experienced it.
