The Ben Lamp, designed by Matthew McCormick, is a personal and artistic ode to moments of wonder and self-discovery. Inspired by McCormick’s son, the lamp embodies the pure and instinctive joy children find in stacking and collecting objects. The product's intricate design, featuring hand-carved solid stone bases and a blown glass globe, emphasizes craftsmanship and personalization. For this launch, Daphne Creative crafted a commercial that not only showcased the elegance of the lamp but also embedded it in a deeply personal story of fatherhood and discovery. The commercial culminated in a touching reveal, intertwining McCormick's creative process with his son's imaginative world.
Our approach for this project centered around storytelling, seamlessly merging McCormick's personal life with his artistic vision. The commercial begins with Matthew reading a custom-made bedtime story to his son, Ben, which becomes the voiceover. The narrative follows Ben's adventurous search for light, only to discover the light within himself. This heartfelt moment is juxtaposed with scenes of McCormick sketching the Ben Lamp, emphasizing the connection between personal experience and artistic creation. We wrote and printed a bespoke storybook specifically for this project, further enhancing the personal and emotional tone of the campaign. Through cinematic visuals and intimate storytelling, we highlighted the uniqueness and warmth of the Ben Lamp, presenting it as both a functional piece and a meaningful work of art.
